Taking a ride on the ferris wheel at night let's you see beautiful Vienna from above. Totally worth the long-ish ticket lines and the €9 fee.

Place felt like a deserted wasteland in the middle of winter. Probably has more life in the peak season but from my experience, January is not the best time to visit.

Bond and Milovy take a ride on the Grand Ferris Wheel in The Living Daylights (1987). Director John Glenn also worked with the wheel in The Third Man (1949) in which he was Assistant Sound Editor.

I would suggest going by day as by night, at least when I went, there was nothing to be seen. I think this could be an alternative to the St. Stephens Cathedral, but I would suggest the cathedral
